Question: Traditional chinese medicine?

Has anyone ever taken any of the traditional chinese medicine from the Tong Ren Tang pahrmacy, headquartered in Beijing? When I was visiting, I bought some herbs for my migraines and now that I am back home, I think I paid too much for something that's not going to work. Any suggestions? If you have used it, please let me know your results ! Thanks! I purchased Dong Chong Xia Coa; Zao Ren capsules; and Lai Fu Zi Capsules. This was after a consultation with their on site herbalist.

There are many different causes for migraines - you need to see a proper doctor for a proper diagnoses. Really, herbs are just dirty drugs, and very suspect if coming in from China. There have been cases of such herbs being found to be contaminated with heavy metal toxins.

Yeah! they really work! all of their medicines r like the best! (well most of them anyway) so i would guess whatever u get is way better than tyolenal or other migraine medicine

There are literally hundreds of herbal formulas in the Chinese Medicine pharmacopoeia. Stating that you bought trad. Chinese medicine from Tong Ren Tang is like saying you bought supplements at the health food store. We have no idea what you purchased. What is the name of the formula, or the herbs? *Edit* Those herbs do seem a little odd for treating migraines. Lai Fu Zi does disperse excess, which is often a component of migraine. However, the combination of the three herbs doesn't really fit for migraines. [Suan] Zao Ren is often used for insomnia and anxiety, while Dong Chong is more of a digestion herb.(1) I think that either the herbalists are treating the headaches in a oblique manner, or there was some breakdown in the communication of what you were seeking to have treated.

Quick check: Is your chinese medicine used by properly qualified doctors in your home country? Do they use it in hospitals? No to the above answers will mean you've been scammed.

Only trust any TCM formulas that are GMP certified, like Plum Flower, Golden Needle and the like, they have a seal on them that states they don't contain heavy metals like lead, mercury and other nasty things. If they have this seal you are good to go, here is a link to some information for you on this subject.
